  • MORE INFO

    Information about the trip

This trip is designed for nature lovers. The main destination is Corcovado National Park and Drake Bay. It is a route through the Arenal, Tortuguero and Manuel Antonio; key places to get to know the best of Costa Rica with a final in Corcovado, a jewel not yet discovered by many. The hotels that we have included in the option of 3* and 4* stars, are strategically located starting from San Jose and above all El Jinete de Osa, located in a real paradise.

We like El Secreto de la Fortuna because it is located in the centre of La Fortuna with all the restaurants and entertainment places nearby. A nice hotel that also has views to the volcano.
In Monteverde we have prepared a few days of trekking through the cloud forest and also adventures that include Canopy, bridges and a beautiful horseback riding route ending in thermal waters over the river. Without a doubt Monteverde is a special destination in Costa Rica.
Although Manuel Antonio National Park is a classic, we have reserved the best guide who will show you the park and then let you enjoy of its beautiful beach by your own. For the following days we have included different options you can choose depending on your tastes.
Corcovado National Park, one of the most intense biological places in the world. Located in a remote area of the country has a spectacular scenery. Home to the world's biggest and only primary tropical rainforest, it hosts a plethora of endangered animal and plant species. Due to the fact that it is a little isolated and difficult to access, it is a park that has not been much touched. It is home to the beautiful Red Macaw, the Resplendent Quetzal, the Red-Eye Tree Frog and the Tapir, the biggest terrestrial mammal in Central and South America.
The park is extremely hot, wet and rainy most of the year, but it's fun to hike along this dense vegetation that opens up to wonderful beaches. Jinetes de Osa is a small and charming hotel with their own beach and spectacular views.

For this trip we have included some flights that make the route more comfortable, without wasting time on the endless roads of Costa Rica. We have the flight to Tortuguero, which the journey itself is a real experience because of the landscape. From Tortuguero to La Fortuna and from here to Manuel Antonio with a stop in San José. The flights are not longer than 40 minutes each. Finally, from Drake to San Jose we have also chosen to fly so that we will have time to rest before the long international return flight.
Anyway, we are open to your suggestions and preferences in order to organize a customized trip to Costa Rica.

Travel to Costa Rica with RUTAS

At Rutas Costa Rica, we try to include the best quality-price ratio to accommodate your trip and budget. Not only do we appreciate the proximity of the hotel as well as the flexibility and kindness of their staff, but also that the establishment can be a part of the total trip experience, either by the privileged location or by the particularity of your hosts.

On the other hand, private trips allow us to personalize our tours and choose our own routes. Because of this, we are not bound to fixed schedules so we can adjust them according to the preferences of each traveler.

Traveling in Costa Rica usually takes time as not all roads are asphalted and their maximum allowed speed is usually 80 km/h. From San Jose to Tortuguero, the trip can take about 5-6 hours between car and boat and the same amount of time is needed to go from Tortuguero to La Fortuna. The same is the case with traveling from San Jose to Puerto Viejo de Limon in the Caribbean area of Costa Rica. It usually takes 4-5 hours if we are lucky and don’t find any accident or other problem on the road. We keep such factors in mind in order to make the most of the days and reduce the traveling time as much as possible. Sometimes, we use domestic flights as well as other private transport that allow us to organize the trip and stops just the way we want it.

When there is no choice than to spend a few more hours on the road, we try to make that time pass in the utmost comfort and privacy we can provide. For such journeys, we recommend that you be patient and don’t stop looking through the window as the magnificent green views of the Tico’s landscape might surprise you.

The relationship created with the guide in a private trip is much stronger and enriching than the guide in a group tour. In most of our trips, you will cross national parks, volcanoes, and rivers together with your guide, an expert eco-guide who will tell you many stories about the country.

Our trips include tickets to national parks as well as domestic flights with allowed luggage and international travel insurance.

We are absolutely sure that there is always a possibility to explore a country in another way, even if it is as popular and well-known as Costa Rica. To plan yours, you will need to tell us about your preferences, ideas, and your budget. We will adapt to these factors and design a personalized trip to Costa Rica that you will never forget. You will return home with the unforgettable memories of traveling the beautiful land of the Ticos and your stay there.
