    Manuel Antonio national park

We present different options so you can take advantage of the day.
Option 1. Rafting in Savegre or Rio Naranjo.
A trip of unsurpassable beauty, jungle vegetation, and the explosion of whitewater. Suitable for beginner adventurers and for experts who seek strong rapids and more adrenaline
It is a river that, depending on which part you cross, could be class II, III or IV. It also depends on the time in which it is traveled. The most spectacular rapids coincide in the rainy season. For beginners, it is possible to go only the area of class II-III, the lower part.
You can also choose to go through the rapids offered El Rio Naranjo (Something more complicated III and IV class) requires previous experience because water levels rise rapidly especially in the rainy season, on the way it passes through agricultural lands and plantations of African Palm. The upper part of the river is known as El Chorro (Class IV-V). This section is only available in the dry season. It requires previous experience.
Some of its rapids: Cola del Dragón, Chorro and Asteric and Obelisco.

Option 2. Kayak in the sea or in the river.
A Kayak route turns out to be a very unique way to enjoy Manuel Antonio from a different perspective.
A half-day trip along the coast of Manuel Antonio, near islands and inlets that are the refuges of many species of seabirds. We can see the nesting places of seabirds. An exciting option to experience the marine and coastal wonders of Costa Rica.
For those who prefer river kayaking, You can tour the protected estuaries of Damas Island paddling through the exuberant mangroves to see the abundant wildlife that includes many shy birds, mammals and reptiles that live in this tropical habitat known as the mangrove.
In the mangrove, everything flows harmoniously. The mixture of fresh and salt water, the diversity of the most extraordinary plants and the fauna in all its splendor. This tour will show you incomparable wonders of nature, just 10 minutes from Manuel Antonio.
Neither of these activities is in the open ocean and the pace of this trip is according to your abilities. Suitable for all people.

Option 3. Zip Line and Rappel through the National Park.
We take you to the Adventure Park which is located in the heart of the San Antonio de Damas forest, just 30 minutes from the Manuel Antonio National Park. The best place for an unforgettable adventure through the jungle of Costa Rica! Vegetation, waterfalls and wildlife. All in one.
In the San Antonio de Damas, you can choose between moving in a Hummer or riding a horse through a river canyon. Then there will be a 10 minute walk through nature trails before arriving at the main station. Here the guide will give you all the special equipment and instructions.
We started walking along the via ferrata, along the banks of the canyon on special ropes. While going through the Damitas River canyon, you can experience the Tarzan swing a couple of times, then we find the first rappel, a 13-meter rappel. From here we continue and fly over a waterfall of 35 meters. The next flight crosses a waterfall and ends in a free fall to a pond of crystal clear water! From here another climb, which leads to a new zipline and a staircase with an ascent of around 6 meters that will take you to "La Galería" the natural platform from where a mixture of Rappel and ZIPLINE will be waiting for you from the top of a waterfall (about 60 meters). We assure you an unforgettable adventure. Includes: equipment, guide and lunch.

Option 4. Visit to Nauyaca Waterfalls.
It consists of a horse ride where a 12-kilometer route with three stops is made to rest. The horseback excursion lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour until you reach the house of Don Lulo. After breakfast and observing animals in the family mini-zoo, the trip continues for 25 minutes to reach the waterfalls. Here you can swim in the natural pools of the waterfalls that have formed. On the way back, one more time at Don Lulo's house to enjoy a delicious and typical Costa Rican lunch. After a well-deserved rest in the hammocks and a delicious cup of coffee, the trip back to the starting point begins.

    Useful informationa about the trip:

This 15-day route is one of the most complete trips in Costa Rica for a person visiting this country for the first time. You visit the most beautiful places in Costa Rica in private, without haste, and with an expert guide in each destination to visit.
All transfers are private except the Moin – Tortuguero boat transfer. We include many lunches, some prepared so you can enjoy the parks and beaches with freedom.
We have chosen the best excursions with first class guides.
The tour begins in San Jose with a flight to Tortuguero. The accommodation we have chosen in Tortuguero is not the classic resort of Tortuguero, it is a really nice place, on the beach itself and in the center of the town at the same time. It gives the option to really live the experience of the people and the routes because we can design them just for you.
In Tortuguero we have prepared two tours for you: on the first morning you will visit the Tortuguero canals with one of our guides, and in the afternoon you will see the whole landscape of Tortuguero from a stop. All this in private, outside the “hotel packages” that almost always include boats with motor. We believe that Tortuguero is a very special place in Costa Rica and we organize it in private so you can live the adventure more intensely and, above all, at your own pace.
Besides Tortuguero, you can enjoy the Caribbean with its beaches and its good atmosphere in Puerto Viejo. Beach tours, environment and indigenous culture with the Bribrí.
To avoid long hours of boats and cars, we have chosen to include a flight that goes from Tortuguero to La Fortuna. The flight lasts one hour and the spectacle offered by air travel is indescribable.
Between the El Arenal and Monteverde we have made a mix of walking routes, forests, suspension bridges and adventure. All with specialized naturalist guides in each destination.
From Monteverde to Manuel Antonio, it will be a 4 hour trip with a stop on the Tárcoles River to see the crocodiles that live there. In Manuel Antonio we have included the classic route through the national park and also an offer of activities for you to enjoy Manuel Antonio more intensely. The mentioned activities are NOT included in the price, and depending on your tastes we will organize one or the other.
As for accommodation, we believe that it is a mixture that perfectly meets the quality standards that we want to offer you from Routes. Quality – price ratio and situation that makes you enjoy more of the environment and that you live Costa Rica with more intensity.
The hotels's choice, we also want to be flexible and any other suggestions will always be studied and welcomed.
This is an example of a trip through Costa Rica, which can be modified and adapted to your tastes, budget and travel days.

Travel to Costa Rica with RUTAS

At Rutas Costa Rica, we try to include the best quality-price ratio to accommodate your trip and budget. Not only do we appreciate the proximity of the hotel as well as the flexibility and kindness of their staff, but also that the establishment can be a part of the total trip experience, either by the privileged location or by the particularity of your hosts.

On the other hand, private trips allow us to personalize our tours and choose our own routes. Because of this, we are not bound to fixed schedules so we can adjust them according to the preferences of each traveler.

Traveling in Costa Rica usually takes time as not all roads are asphalted and their maximum allowed speed is usually 80 km/h. From San Jose to Tortuguero, the trip can take about 5-6 hours between car and boat and the same amount of time is needed to go from Tortuguero to La Fortuna. The same is the case with traveling from San Jose to Puerto Viejo de Limon in the Caribbean area of Costa Rica. It usually takes 4-5 hours if we are lucky and don’t find any accident or other problem on the road. We keep such factors in mind in order to make the most of the days and reduce the traveling time as much as possible. Sometimes, we use domestic flights as well as other private transport that allow us to organize the trip and stops just the way we want it.

When there is no choice than to spend a few more hours on the road, we try to make that time pass in the utmost comfort and privacy we can provide. For such journeys, we recommend that you be patient and don’t stop looking through the window as the magnificent green views of the Tico’s landscape might surprise you.

The relationship created with the guide in a private trip is much stronger and enriching than the guide in a group tour. In most of our trips, you will cross national parks, volcanoes, and rivers together with your guide, an expert eco-guide who will tell you many stories about the country.

Our trips include tickets to national parks as well as domestic flights with allowed luggage and international travel insurance.

We are absolutely sure that there is always a possibility to explore a country in another way, even if it is as popular and well-known as Costa Rica. To plan yours, you will need to tell us about your preferences, ideas, and your budget. We will adapt to these factors and design a personalized trip to Costa Rica that you will never forget. You will return home with the unforgettable memories of traveling the beautiful land of the Ticos and your stay there.
