The reason behind its popularity is that it is only 45 minutes away from San Jose so you can make a fun day trip to the volcano. Furthermore, you can walk right up to the tip of the volcano’s crater and have a look in. The hiking trail of Poas Volcano is extra easy level so it is ideal for everyone. There are three craters of Poas Volcano, but only the main one is active. As you look down at the crater, you will be in complete awe because you will be face to face with an active bubbling volcanic lake.
